Dr. Sharon Lawn

Associate Professor Sharon Lawn, Department of Psychiatry, Flinders Human Behaviour and Health Research Unit, Flinders University, Australia. Education: A/Prof Lawn completed her PhD and MSW from Flinders University, her Dip Ed from Adelaide University and her BA from Monash University. Experience: A/Prof Lawn’s foci fir research are service users’ experiences of health care, systems of care delivery and workforce skills and behaviours in the delivery of health care. She has extensive experience in undertaking research with vulnerable populations and in using a broad range of qualitative methodologies, and mixed methods. Publication: Since becoming a fulltime academic in 2007, 95 publications (journal articles, books, book chapters and creative pieces), including peer-reviewed papers in Australian and international policy and practice journals. Awards: In 2007, A/Prof Lawn won the ‘Australasian award for Exceptional Contribution by an Individual to Mental Health across Australia and New Zealand’. In 2012, she won the Pride of Australia Medal, in South Australia, for the Community Spirit category, in recognition of her efforts in supporting health service and system change. International collaboration: A/Prof Lawn maintains collaborative research collaborations in the UK, China, New Zealand, the USA, etc. Editorial Experience: She is editorial board member of one International Journal. Number of Doctoral Students: 12.
